We left Amsterdam at a more decent time than the day before and went into Germany to Cologne (Koln) to see their magnificent and huge cathedral which had miraculously not been bombed in WWII. After many photos of this cathedral both inside and out we had time to wander into the old town and have lunch in an interesting bakery full of wonderful breads, strudels, pretzels and pastries. We had an omlete bread roll which was quite interesting but nice. We also had a very delicious almond flakes and chocolate pretzel - yum!
Our next stop was to Boppard to get on a Rhine River Cruise to St Goar. very lovely although it was still quite cool so we sat inside. Great views along the Rhine of numerous old castles and beautiful, picturesque towns and its many vineyards located high on steep cliffs. When we arrived at St Goar we returned to our coach and were driven to our hotel located in Weinhem. We strolled into the town where we found a supermarket and bought some goodies: chocolate biscuits Knofflers and also Toffifees - Yum! Holly had told Lynda about these and they are both really yummy - thanks Holly for the suggestion! We might get some more to take home!
